While there are many reasons for government agencies to consider high-performance buildings, perhaps the strongest case is made when dollars and cents are discussed. Agencies and experts alike say that one of the key sustainable benefits resulting from the energy and waste reduction measures of high-performance buildings is cost savings. The U.S. General Services Administration in particular has become a proponent of high-performance buildings because of the environmental and economic sustainability these structures offer. By having the right training and awareness available to the people that occupy and manage these buildings, combined with technology to integrate the many systems required to run them, agencies can expect to see significant savings in a short period of time.
